About

Hi!

I'm Mark, a creative technologist based in The Netherlands. Technology and creativity are what get me out of bed in the morning, but somewhere along the way I noticed my phone stopped being a tool I picked up on purpose and became this all-in-one device I reached for by default, for almost everything.

A while ago I started experimenting with pulling specific functions back off my phone, one at a time. A small e-reader for reading, a music player, and smart wall switches instead of constantly controlling our home with an app. None of it was about rejecting technology. It was about being more deliberate with it, and I noticed how much lighter my day felt once fewer activities depended on that one glowing rectangle in my pocket. Because each minute of phone use offloaded to another device also saves you several more costly minutes of being distracted by all of your phone's addicting tactics.

Offload grew out of that experiment. I wanted a place that supports people who want to be more intentional in their tech use, by helping them find fitting solutions for several use cases. Some of the picks on this site are things I use myself. Others come from research into what genuinely works for other people or from suggestions by other Offload visitors.

If you're already into digital minimalism or intentional tech, I hope you find a few new picks here. If you're just curious what still exists outside your phone, that's exactly who this site is for too!
